Last week everyone found a treasure at the New Directions Career Center's 6th Annual Accessory Party. Every November this festive event gives guests the opportunity to sip champagne and nibble hors d'oeuvres while shopping for new & gently-used clothing, shoes, bags, and jewelry, including handcrafted pieces and designer brands at discounted prices. All sales directly fund the NDCC's in-house boutique, which provides free professional attire to their program graduates.
The NDCC's mission is to provide career counseling and employment-related education to women in transition, empowering them to achieve economic self-sufficiency. But in simpler words, they offer so much more: the opportunity to change your life. One look at the Center's "gratitude wall" - bulletin boards covered with clients' lists of things they're thankful for - and I knew I was in a very special place.
